Ours and his. It must not confuse legal status, supervision, fire training, restitution, or victim harm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI know you know. Two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thane looked toward the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His phone was already there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had not picked it up because once he did, the private thing would become process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He hated that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He respected it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was most of their life now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thane reached for the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEli first.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eli Carroway answered on the fourth ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat tone in your silence suggests you are about to ask something emotionally significant with legal consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gabriel leaned toward the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHello to you too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eli sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSpeakerphone?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes,\u201d Mark said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOf course.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thane stood at the kitchen island with Gabriel on one side and Mark on the other. However, because you are law enforcement officers involved in his arrest and continuing support, because you have paid restitution through court mechanisms, because you are connected to his housing and support structure, and because he remains on probation, the boundaries must be explicit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thane nodded even though Eli could not see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSay them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPack is personal. It is not legal supervision. It does not modify probation. It does not reduce reporting requirements. It does not create immunity from consequences. It does not give him access to confidential law-enforcement information. It does not authorize him to assist in cases. It does not make your home his residence unless Hale approves specific stays. It does not allow contact with victims. It does not influence fire-service review.
