Hands!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crouching man jerked so hard he fell backward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man with the copper turned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For one stupid second, his eyes tried to understand what his body already knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A seven-foot brown werewolf detective stood in the utility doorway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A black werewolf detective stood behind him with a firearm trained low and steady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A gray-white werewolf detective had the side angle and was already calling positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man holding the copper dropped it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second man reached toward the bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thane\u2019s voice hit the room like a door closing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDon\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man froze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One percent was enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gabriel moved in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHands open.
