convincing performance from a distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great room had sunlight across the floor, clean dishes stacked by the sink, coffee in the pot, and enough quiet to suggest responsible adults lived there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then Gabriel opened a cereal box upside down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cereal scattered across the kitchen island, bounced off the edge, and pattered onto the floor in a bright, sugary rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mark looked at the mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
