{"id":1065,"date":"2024-04-14T01:01:44","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T06:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/threewerewolves.com\/?p=1065"},"modified":"2024-02-10T10:22:49","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T16:22:49","slug":"load-in-meltdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/threewerewolves.com\/tourblog\/load-in-meltdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Load-In Meltdown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Everything was going <em>fine.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which is exactly when things decided not to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel had just balanced a stack of bass amp heads like a very proud werewolf Jenga champion when <strong>the lights in the venue flickered<\/strong>\u2026 once\u2026 twice\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then the entire power grid <strong>went dead<\/strong> with a bone-deep <em>ka-CHUNK<\/em> sound that could only mean one thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cWe blew a breaker,\u201d<\/strong> Mark muttered from the back of the truck, not even surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From somewhere inside the stage bay, a crew member\u2019s voice echoed, <strong>\u201cUhh\u2026 I think Kyle\u2019s stuck on the catwalk??\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane looked up from coiling XLR cables, ears slowly swiveling toward the chaos like radar dishes zeroing in on doom. \u201c<em>Who is Kyle?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel poked his head out from behind a speaker stack, still mid-lift. \u201cI think Kyle\u2019s the lighting guy that brought donuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWait, no,\u201d Emily said, skimming the contact sheet on her tablet. \u201cKyle\u2019s the guy who was bragging about getting \u2018certified in roof climbing\u2019 on YouTube.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh no,\u201d Cassie said flatly. \u201cThat was <em>Derek.<\/em> Kyle was the one who called the fog machine a \u2018vape cannon.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWait\u2014\u201d Maya squinted. \u201cWasn\u2019t <em>that<\/em> the same guy who tripped over the power distro and yelled, \u2018That\u2019s not on me!\u2019 before it blew?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone slowly turned to look up at the dimly lit catwalks above the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And sure enough\u2014<strong>there was Kyle.<\/strong><br>Dangling by his harness. Spinning slowly. Face lit only by the glow of his phone screen.<br>Yelling, \u201cI\u2019M OKAY! BUT MY LEFT SHOE ISN\u2019T!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane dropped his clipboard and rubbed his face with both clawed hands. \u201cI <em>swear,<\/em> if one more amateur tries to climb something I haven\u2019t approved\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diesel wandered in holding a half-eaten sandwich. \u201cAnyone want me to just reset the whole venue? I saw a switch out back labeled \u2018MAIN\u2019 and some duct tape on it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease don\u2019t touch anything labeled with duct tape,\u201d Emily pleaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonah, completely unbothered, climbed on top of a subwoofer and shouted up, \u201cKYLE!
