I\u2019M LITERALLY HANGING!\u201d Kyle shrieked, spinning slowly like a sad disco ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gabriel stood at the base of the ladder leading up to the catwalk, looking way<\/em> too confident for someone about to make deeply questionable life choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI got this,\u201d he said, adjusting the straps on his bass-rig utility harness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cassie raised an eyebrow. \u201cDo you even climb<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI have paws,<\/em>\u201d Gabriel replied, as if that were the same as OSHA certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thane, still half-buried in power distro cables, slowly lifted his head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo,\u201d he said flatly. \u201cNo.<\/em> You\u2019re not going up there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n But Gabriel was already halfway up the ladder, calling back over his shoulder, \u201cDon\u2019t worry, my wolf! I\u2019ve got balance for days!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He made it halfway across the suspended catwalk before realizing something important:<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was very, very high.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOH NOPE,\u201d he said loudly. \u201cOH NO. I DON\u2019T LIKE THIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyle, still dangling a few feet ahead, turned slightly and waved. \u201cHey, welcome to my nightmare! You stuck too?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gabriel had frozen\u2014claws clenched around the railing, tail puffed, ears back. \u201cWHY IS THIS MOVING? WHY IS THE CATWALK MOVING.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s\u2026 it\u2019s supposed to do that,\u201d Kyle offered. \u201cI think.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n From below, the entire crew had stopped what they were doing. Maya facepalmed. Mark didn\u2019t even look up. Jonah was openly placing bets with a local crew guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cassie cupped her hands and shouted, \u201cThane, your boy<\/em> is stuck on the ceiling!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thane let out the slowest exhale known to werewolf-kind, stood up, dusted his paws off on his jeans, and muttered, \u201cIf he cries, I\u2019m logging this as emotional labor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He grabbed a proper harness, clipped it like he\u2019d been doing this for years<\/em>\u2014because he had \u2014 and ascended the ladder with grim, quiet efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From above came:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gabriel: \u201cThane I\u2019m fine I\u2019m totally fine THIS IS NOT FINE \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyle: \u201cOh hey! Now you\u2019re<\/em> stuck too! We can start a club!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two minutes later, the crew below watched in awe as Thane calmly navigated the catwalk<\/strong>, hooked his arm through Gabriel\u2019s harness, gripped Kyle\u2019s rig with the other, and dragged both of them back like luggage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gabriel muttered the whole way down. \u201cNot my finest moment. Still brave though. Definitely brave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou’re not allowed<\/em> near ladders anymore,\u201d Thane grunted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCounterpoint: maybe just slightly taller stages next time\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBanned.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once on the ground, Thane unclipped them both with a single practiced motion, then glared at Kyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou. Down. No climbing. No donuts. You’re on case stacking until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyle saluted. \u201cYessir.
