Beyond the festival gates, the sea of humanity churned \u2014 matted grass underfoot, flags waving like banners of forgotten kingdoms, tens of thousands already packed into the Pyramid Stage field for the evening\u2019s triple-threat lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the artist compound behind the stage, Feral Eclipse was chaos incarnate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sound checks were done. In-ear monitors tuned. Backline techs finished tweaking the rig. Thane was reviewing the setlist with Cassie, Jonah was nervously flipping his sticks in the corner, and Mark was cursing under his breath at the festival\u2019s lighting consoles, muttering about British cabling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel was practically vibrating in place, bouncing from bandmate to bandmate like a caffeinated pinball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI <em>love<\/em> this place!\u201d he howled for the twelfth time. \u201cIt\u2019s like Woodstock had a baby with a medieval fair and raised it on Red Bull!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane, organizing wireless packs, didn\u2019t even look up. \u201cChannel your energy into not blowing out your voice in the first song.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo promises!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cassie leaned against a flight case with her arms crossed, grinning. \u201cYou\u2019re worse than usual today. Just leave clear paths at stage left \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo no no no no <em>no.<\/em> What did you just say?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She looked confused. \u201cUh\u2026 that Trivium\u2019s on after you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel\u2019s pupils dilated like a wolf seeing a steak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re\u2026 <em>before Trivium<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone in the tent froze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rico mouthed, \u201cOh shit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane closed his eyes and took a steadying breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonah put his hands on his head. \u201cYou didn\u2019t tell him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t think it would <em>come up!<\/em>\u201d Cassie hissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTRIVIUM IS AFTER US?!\u201d Gabriel howled, spinning in a frantic circle. \u201cWE\u2019RE OPENING FOR TRIVIUM?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maya tried to intervene. \u201cTechnically, it\u2019s co-headlining, Gabriel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>WE. ARE. OPENING. FOR. TRIVIUM.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark muttered, \u201cBrace for detonation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel grabbed his bass case, eyes wild. \u201cI have to make an offering. A gesture. A sacrifice worthy of the gods.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane stepped in his path. \u201cYou are not throwing your bass into a bonfire, Gabriel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Let me worship them!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlay the best damn show of your life. <em>That\u2019s<\/em> the tribute.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel stopped, chest heaving, claws twitching around the handle of his bass case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Fine,\u201d he breathed. \u201cBut I\u2019m putting everything into this set. I want Matt Heafy to <em>feel it<\/em> backstage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cassie grinned. \u201cNow <em>that\u2019s<\/em> the Gabriel we need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The crowd was endless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feral Eclipse stepped onto the Pyramid Stage to a roar that felt like the earth itself screaming approval. Flags of every color waved above the sea of fans. Social media was already exploding. And standing just offstage, watching intently, was a group of four musicians Gabriel instantly recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His heroes. Trivium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He nearly tripped walking out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then the lights came up. Thane gave the count. And Gabriel, bass slung low and fury in his veins, tore into the first riff with enough force to make the front rail lose their collective minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feral Eclipse <em>owned<\/em> it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane mixed on the fly, Mark painted the night sky with a technicolor onslaught, and the humans in the band matched every ounce of energy with razor-sharp performance. Gabriel played like a wolf possessed\u2014leaping from riser to riser, spinning mid-chorus, even diving to his knees during \u201cField Notes from the Stars\u201d as fans screamed his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Somewhere around the second-to-last song, he caught a glimpse of Paolo Gregoletto at the edge of the stage, giving him a subtle nod of approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel grinned.
