By the time Feral Eclipse limped into their next destination, the sun was setting over Crawdad Crossing<\/em>, a place so small it had a church, a bar, and a feed store\u2014all in the same building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town sign featured a giant smiling crawfish giving a thumbs-up, with a crudely added \u201cNO FURRIES\u201d spray-painted beneath in dripping red letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh great<\/em>,\u201d Thane muttered, leaning over the steering wheel with a scowl. \u201cWe\u2019re already famous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel, still emotionally wounded from the gas station fan ambush, peeked up from behind his clawed hands. \u201cPlease tell me they don\u2019t have Wi-Fi.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah checked his phone. \u201cThey have 3G and a Facebook page last updated in 2014 with a photo of a dead raccoon holding a Bud Light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark grunted. \u201cAt least it\u2019s not a possum. That\u2019d be culturally aggressive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue? A hollowed-out skating rink now used for \u201cCommunity Events, MMA Fights, and Weddings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, a dusty banner hung above the stage: CRAWDAD FESTIVAL KICKOFF \u2013 Featuring THE ECLIPSERS.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassie tilted her head. \u201cDid they just\u2026 pluralize us?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rico raised an eyebrow. \u201cPretty sure that\u2019s a different band.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A man in an American flag tank top approached with the swagger of someone who\u2019d once punched a vending machine for stealing his Snickers bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou them\u2026 Eclipse boys?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane sighed. \u201cFeral Eclipse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man blinked. \u201cRight. That\u2019s what I said. Y\u2019all the ones with the fursuiter?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel\u2019s tail bristled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before he could lunge, Maya stepped in, guitar case slung over one shoulder like a bat. \u201cSay that again, cowboy. I dare you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man backed off fast. \u201cHey now, no need to get spicy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They entered the venue to find\u2026 an actual kiddie pool full of boiled crawfish next to the merch table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also at the merch table?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A freshly printed stack of Team Pupslut<\/em> shirts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel\u2019s soul left his body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane picked one up and held it up with a smirk. \u201cYou approve of the font at least?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassie howled with laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rico grabbed one and spun it like a prize wheel. \u201cWho\u2019s responsible for this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A young local girl in a homemade \u201cI \u2764\ufe0f Werewolves\u201d hoodie peeked out from behind the folding table. \u201cI saw it online. I thought it\u2019d be cute. I made thirty of \u2018em! They\u2019re selling super<\/em> well!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel covered his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark put both hands on his hips, looked to the ceiling, and muttered, \u201cThis is our legacy now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
