Not a roadside dive, not a van nap, not a shared room with questionable stains \u2014 but a <em>real<\/em> hotel. Five stars. Marble floors. A chandelier in the lobby. Bellhops that looked like they\u2019d rather be at Harvard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The front desk staff <em>visibly<\/em> hesitated when they saw the pack strut in, still in ripped jeans, fur tousled, claws visible, and gear bags slung over their shoulders like chaos grenades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDo you&#8230; have a reservation?\u201d the concierge asked slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Feral Eclipse,<\/em>\u201d Thane said, handing over the card. \u201cThree rooms. One night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a pause. The woman at the desk blinked. Then gasped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh my <em>god.<\/em> You\u2019re the band my niece won\u2019t shut up about. You\u2019re the wolves from WXRF last night!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel winked. \u201cGuilty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udecf\ufe0f <em>Midnight \u2013 The Presidential Suite (why not?)<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Rico was lounging on a leather couch like a king, sipping complimentary champagne from the bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maya was jumping on the bed while blasting their demo tracks from a Bluetooth speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cassie had found the minibar and was aggressively reorganizing it by ABV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonah was doing something involving a hairdryer, a banana, and the fire alarm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel was shirtless and trying to convince a pair of bathroom mirrors to reflect him \u201clike a cool album cover.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark had locked himself in the other bathroom muttering, \u201cI\u2019m too old for this,\u201d while Thane was half buried under a pile of scattered cables, trying to fix the in-suite TV sound system to run a mix playback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then came the knock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <em>mob<\/em> of fans \u2014 mostly teens and twenty-somethings \u2014 had figured out where they were. The door cracked open and a flood of people <em>immediately<\/em> burst in like wolves in heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOH MY GOD IT\u2019S GABRIEL!\u201d<br>\u201cCASSIE, I LOVE YOU!\u201d<br>\u201cJONAH SIGN MY ARM!\u201d<br>\u201cIS THAT THE ALBUM MIX?!\u201d<br>\u201cWHY ARE THERE SO MANY BANANAS?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Security tried to intervene. Tried. But by the time the staff showed up, Gabriel was giving a selfie tour of the suite, two girls were braiding Maya\u2019s hair, and someone had <em>accidentally<\/em> set a small fire in a trash can trying to light a candle with a stage lighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2615 <em>Hotel Breakfast Buffet, 8:37 AM<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Somehow, miraculously, the band made it to breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane looked like he\u2019d slept for five minutes on a broken guitar case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark was drinking black coffee with the thousand-yard stare of someone who had seen things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel? Bright-eyed and shirtless under his jacket, still wearing the room service towel around his waist like a royal sash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans were <em>already<\/em> there. Word had spread. A group of sleep-deprived superfans had infiltrated the buffet line, carrying Sharpies, posters, and the occasional hotel napkin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh my god, Gabriel, please sign my toast \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Someone had taken a bite out of it. He signed it anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExcuse me,\u201d a frazzled hotel manager said to Thane, \u201cwe do <em>not<\/em> normally allow public meet-and-greets at the waffle station.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not normally awake at breakfast,\u201d Thane replied, deadpan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As if on cue, the pancake machine <em>exploded.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone turned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonah stood frozen, syrup bottle in hand. \u201c\u2026It told me to press both buttons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddf3 <em>Check-out \u2013 Later That Morning<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re <em>banned,<\/em> aren\u2019t we?\u201d Maya asked, dragging her suitcase out through the shattered revolving door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndefinitely,\u201d Thane confirmed, walking beside her with one hand over his eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark sipped the last of his hotel coffee. \u201cThey gave us a three-star Yelp review <em>as guests.<\/em> That\u2019s impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStill worth it,\u201d Gabriel said, pulling on his shades with a grin. \u201cOne more show like that and we\u2019re not just Feral Eclipse. We\u2019re <em>legend.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cassie looked around at the crowd still camped on the sidewalk, waving signs and wearing merch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou know what?\u201d she said. \u201cI think we already are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour van pulled away from the curb, wrapped in midnight black and clawed decals, leaving behind a swirl of glitter, fire damage, and the faint scent of burnt waffles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It started innocently enough.
