Inside, the arena pulsed with pre-show electricity. Backstage, <strong>Gabriel, Mark and Thane were already preparing for soundcheck<\/strong>, the stage lights being dialed in, final EQ passes humming in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the front of the VIP line, a sour-faced woman stepped up to the counter, designer purse hanging from her elbow like it was allergic to public surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cName?\u201d asked the check-in rep, smiling despite the chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGabriel,\u201d the woman said, flatly. \u201cI\u2019m his mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behind her stood a sullen, skinny young man in mirrored sunglasses and a too-tight button-down: <strong>Nathan<\/strong>, Gabriel\u2019s younger brother. He was texting with one hand, the other holding the VIP pass he clearly felt entitled to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also with them: Gabriel\u2019s <strong>father<\/strong>, calm and warm, clearly proud. And his <strong>grandparents<\/strong>, slow-moving but dressed up, eyes wide as they stared around the gleaming concourse with cautious excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The check-in staff tapped quickly, then smiled. \u201cYes, we\u2019ve got six comped VIPs under Gabriel\u2019s list. Wristbands, pre-show lounge access, and premium lower bowl seating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel\u2019s mom sniffed. \u201cNot suite level?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The check-in person hesitated. \u201cNo, ma\u2019am. Just what was requested.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nathan muttered, \u201cFigures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel\u2019s father stepped in, trying to keep it light. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be here. I haven\u2019t seen this place from the floor since a Dream Theater show in the \u201890s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His ex-wife rolled her eyes. \u201cAt least that was music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rep smiled nervously and handed over the passes. \u201cEnjoy the show.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As they moved toward the lounge, Nathan grumbled, \u201cThis place smells like fried onions and sweat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re not wrong,\u201d Gabriel\u2019s mom added, waving a hand in front of her face. \u201cHe couldn\u2019t even give us a private box? He\u2019s got the <em>nerve<\/em> to headline and treat us like fans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou <em>are<\/em> fans,\u201d came a voice behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They turned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thane.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019d just come up from backstage \u2014 unseen until now, silent as shadow and twice as sharp. He wasn\u2019t growling. He didn\u2019t need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He looked first at Nathan. \u201cYou came here because Gabriel invited you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then to their mother. \u201cYou\u2019re standing in the biggest arena in Boston because of him. You wouldn\u2019t be here at all if he didn\u2019t still believe \u2014 for some reason \u2014 that you deserved to see him shine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane stepped closer, his voice quiet and unmistakably firm. \u201cIf that\u2019s not enough for you\u2026 leave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel\u2019s father cleared his throat awkwardly. \u201cWe\u2019re proud of him. All of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grandparents nodded in agreement.
