The morning after the sold-out TD Garden show, the crew rolled into Caf\u00e9 Sauvage<\/strong> in Boston\u2019s Back Bay\u2014a stylish little brunch spot with warm lighting, glassy windows, and the best French toast br\u00fbl\u00e9e in the city. Gabriel had reserved a large table for the full crew: Thane, Mark, Cassie, Maya, Rico\u2026 and his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even his mom and Nathan had shown up\u2014likely still riding the shock of Thane\u2019s verbal body slam from the night before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mood was surprisingly calm. Gabriel’s dad chatted about stage lighting with Mark. His grandparents quietly sipped coffee and nibbled pastry. Fans who\u2019d followed the band to brunch were doing their best to act casual at nearby tables\u2014phones in hand, hoodies zipped halfway to hide Feral Eclipse logos. The place was packed with polite obsession.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then Nathan broke the spell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slouching in his seat, chewing his toast like it offended him, he muttered just loud enough for surrounding tables (and unfortunately, the band<\/em>) to hear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI still don\u2019t get how people think he\u2019s actually talented. Just flailing around on stage like he\u2019s auditioning for some furry rave.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The table went silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel\u2019s head tilted slightly, but he didn\u2019t turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane put down his coffee very slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassie blinked. \u201cOh no he didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From two tables over, a young woman in a worn denim jacket and a \u201cFERAL FANGIRL\u201d enamel pin stood up with the kind of energy usually reserved for courtroom mic drops. She wasn\u2019t yelling\u2014but her voice cut.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow. Imagine getting comped<\/em> to one of the greatest shows Boston has ever seen\u2026 and still managing to sound like a Reddit comment section.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathan\u2019s head jerked toward her, stunned. \u201cWhat the hell \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She stepped forward, gesturing with her mimosa like it was a mic. \u201cGabriel built this with talent, discipline, and more soul than you\u2019ll ever have in your whole designer-bro wardrobe. And he did it while being a literal werewolf.<\/em> What have you<\/em> done? Lose arguments on Twitter?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark snorted so hard he dropped his fork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rico leaned back, whispering, \u201cThis is the best breakfast of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fan wasn\u2019t done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou should be down on your knees thanking him for letting you bask in his spotlight. But instead you\u2019re out here throwing shade like some jealous side character from a CW drama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathan blinked, visibly shrinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd FYI?\u201d she added. \u201cYou don\u2019t deserve the toast<\/em>, never mind the VIP tickets!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole restaurant erupted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applause. Laughter. One guy at the bar raised his coffee like a toast. Even Gabriel\u2019s mom<\/em> tried to hide a laugh behind her menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathan slumped in his chair, red-faced and silent, his ego toasted harder<\/em> than his sourdough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel leaned against Thane\u2019s shoulder, tears in his eyes from laughing. \u201cShe\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane gave the fan a subtle thumbs-up. \u201cI think she just earned a backstage pass.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel\u2019s dad wiped a tear and nodded, completely straight-faced. \u201cBest roast I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
