The wolves were not.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the bus, the day began with a shriek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWHY IS THERE A FOAM WOLF HEAD IN THE COFFEE MACHINE?!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Cassie\u2019s voice, already at full volume, rang out from the kitchenette like a murder alarm. Thane jolted upright in his bunk, hitting his head on the frame above him. Mark groaned from behind a closed door. Jonah yelled \u201cIT\u2019S A KEEPSAKE!\u201d from the bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily, who was already up and typing in the front lounge, sighed without looking up. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be that kind of day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9:02 AM<\/strong> \u2013 Onsite Prep Begins<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark arrived at the venue first, clipboard and lighting cue tablet in hand, already barking orders like a man possessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNO. That truss doesn\u2019t go there. No, that fixture goes stage right. No, I don\u2019t care what the other<\/em> band did last week. This is our<\/em> show, not a prom for people who don\u2019t believe in haze.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crew members scattered like pigeons. One of them accidentally wheeled a case over Jonah\u2019s foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOW! These are my drumming feet!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou drum barefoot, what\u2019s the difference?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re emotional support toes!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10:18 AM<\/strong> \u2013 Soundcheck Delay<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on the bus, Thane sat cross-legged in front of the mobile rig laptop, growling softly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel handed him a third cup of Diet Mountain Dew and leaned over his shoulder. \u201cWhat broke?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe EQ rack isn\u2019t seeing the board. Like, at all.<\/em> It\u2019s acting like I plugged it into a potato.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah popped in. \u201cI did<\/em> store potatoes in the cable crate. For band stew night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane stared at him for a long, long moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel gently steered Jonah back out of the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11:30 AM<\/strong> \u2013 Unexpected Guests<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily returned from the venue lobby carrying a clipboard and a look of absolute disbelief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOkay. So. Um. There are three journalists, one lifestyle influencer, a news drone crew, the venue\u2019s PR rep, and\u2026 the governor\u2019s daughter<\/em>. She brought cupcakes. With edible paw prints.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassie blinked. \u201cDo we\u2026 have a protocol for this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rico: \u201cSmile and look hot?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maya: \u201cNo one smiles around here before noon. Or at journalists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thane grunted from the hallway. \u201cAre the cupcakes vegan.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily: \u201c…I didn\u2019t ask.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12:17 PM<\/strong> \u2013 Lunch and Existential Crises<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah spilled guacamole down the front of his \u201cformal\u201d show tank top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassie forgot how to spell \u201cphenomenal\u201d while writing a setlist and spiral-texted Gabriel for ten minutes about maybe being illiterate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel solved this by putting his sunglasses on upside-down and laying face-first on the dressing room couch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark: \u201cWe are so professional it hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1:45 PM<\/strong> \u2013 Final Tech Check<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun was blazing now. The crew moved like a well-oiled machine\u2014albeit one powered entirely by caffeine and sarcasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark tested lighting sequences like a mad scientist summoning storms. Thane finally got the EQ to recognize the board and immediately fist-bumped a speaker. Cassie ran vocal warmups while Maya adjusted her pedalboard with the precision of a surgeon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah drummed on everything.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel stood mid-stage, bass in hand, and looked out at the vast empty seats. The heat shimmered in the distance, the stage gleaming, the buzz of something massive building all around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on the bus, Emily finished uploading a teaser clip\u2014footage from the last show, set over slow-motion crowd shots. The title:
