He was fully in uniform\u2014blue polo, black cargo pants, a soda in one hand that was already half-empty. How long had he been standing there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t mind me,\u201d he said dryly. \u201cJust watching the heartfelt reconciliation unfold. You two want a spotlight or should I cue the violin section?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel laughed and flicked his tail. \u201cOh come on, you\u2019re just mad no one ever nuzzles <em>you<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark took a sip of his soda. \u201cI\u2019d settle for people not throwing me into every emotional support situation like I\u2019m the band therapist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane snorted. \u201cTo be fair, you <em>do<\/em> have therapist energy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYeah, well,\u201d Mark grumbled, \u201cnext time one of you climbs a thirty-foot truss with zero gear, I\u2019m charging an emotional hazard fee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel grinned and reached over to playfully nudge Mark\u2019s arm. \u201cYou\u2019re just jealous I got the nose nuzzle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark blinked, then looked deadpan at Thane. \u201cHe say that like it\u2019s a <em>bad<\/em> thing?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thane chuckled and clapped a clawed hand on Mark\u2019s shoulder. \u201cYou\u2019re our rock, old wolf.
